YOGA AND ME

Updated: Feb 17, 2023

Welcome to my blog. this is my very first and in this I wanted to share how my journey with yoga began and how it was a life changing experience for me.

I chanced upon yoga after trying every possible solution for my intense sacroiliac joint pain that lasted for many years. This left me feeling depressed and anxious as I was unable to carry out day to day activities and chores or take care of my family. The pain was so acute that it was difficult for me to sit or lie down. After trying medicines, physiotherapy and many other remedies for years, I chanced upon the book ‘Light on Yoga' by BKS Iyengar. Though a little daunting to understand as a beginner, it was enough to get me captivated. I then read the book 'Yoga: The Iyengar way' by Silva, Mehta and Shyam Bhatia. This book is a boon for beginners and it really piqued my interest in this field. I started with a few yoga asanas targeting my back pain and gradually increased my practice. THE RESULT AND EXPERIENCE WAS MIND BLOWING! My life started to change for the better. Reading books and articles and watching videos helped me understand how yoga can help me change my entire lifestyle and improve not only my physical health but help me cure my anxiety and stress related issues as well.

I have been practicing yoga regularly for 6 years and now I am in a much better place both physically and mentally. I know that I have found a path to follow for the rest of my life. Yoga has now become an integral part of my life. It is more of a passion for me. Yoga is not just a form of exercise as most believe. Yoga is much more than asanas. It is a whole way of living.

It is said that the body benefits from movement and the mind benefits from stillness. Practising asanas has helped me assuage my physical pain and suffering and practicing relaxation techniques, meditation and yoga nidra has helped me calm my stress and anxiety.

The benefits and changes that I experienced has given me this immense sense of gratitude. I am so motivated to pass on these benefits and this positive feeling and energy to all who need it. I want to help as many people as possible to reduce the negative energy from their life and instil positivity in them.

This feeling and need to do something more encouraged me to pursue yoga professionally. I registered my self in Yoga Teachers Training programme and successfully completed the course gaining knowledge and proficiency in practice and study of hath yoga, scriptural study, philosophy, teaching methodology and mind relaxation technique. I am now a internationally certified yoga teacher. A DREAM COME TRUE FOR ME!

My main objective is to pass on the immense benefits that I have gained from yoga to as many people as I can across the world. I especially want to help women of all age groups and demographics, lead a healthier and happier life. A healthy women is definitely a backbone of a healthy family.

I read somewhere that the nature of yoga is to shine the light of awareness into the darkest corners of the body. The place that needs our most attention. This in my opinion is the best way to describe yoga.

I will consider myself successful and feel really grateful if I can spread the awareness about benefits of yoga to as many people possible, especially women and to those who really need it to live a healthy and happy life.
